Make sure that your OS, in general, is up to date. If you are playing on a laptop/notebook/tablet or any other mobile device, make sure to be in high-performance mode rather than energy saving mode. Windows update/device manager don't always install the correct ones. Some graphical issues may be related to old or outdated graphical drivers, make sure these are up to date from the manufacturer website. If you are experiencing weird behavior and are using the most recent Java, try reinstalling Minecraft (see below). Headless (GUI-less) versions obviously can not run the game. On GNU/Linux, OpenJDK works as well but is not supported by Mojang. Make sure the player is running the latest version of Java 16. Make sure the machine meets the specifications provided by Mojang here. Note that no community channel is able to help players with account issues.
