The plaque features Wiesbaden’s ‘fleurs-de-lys’ coat of arms. The Wiesbaden plaque was presented to Tunbridge Wells Borough in 2014 as a gift from the then Lord Mayor of Wiesbaden to mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Twinning Charter between the two towns. The water feature was created to pay homage to the spa water heritage of Tunbridge Wells and was then chosen to be the permanent location for the Wiesbaden Plaque. The sculptor of the water feature, Will Nash, and senior representatives from Dandara also attended.
The unveiling was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Tunbridge Wells, William Benson, Chief Executive at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, and representatives from Water in the Wells group, Tunbridge Wells Twinning and Friendship Association and Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society. The water feature and the plaque have been positioned at the entrance to the development, where it can be admired by everyone passing along The Pantiles.
The event also marked the placement of the Wiesbaden Plaque on the stone base which holds the stainless steel sculpture.
